Dressing For Work

admin

It is no secret that all women want to look attractive and beautiful all the time. So obviously you wish to look great when you go to work. But how do you perceive "looking good" and how do your colleagues perceive it?

Dressing Provocatively At Work

You think that you look good in that low cut blouse (and you do), but do you realize that your clothes affect your co-workers too? Sometimes women dress provocatively and this makes them the hot topic of discussion and gossip in the office. Most women enjoy praises and compliments for their appearance, so it is not surprising that we like to dress well for work. But there has to be a limit on how "sexy" you can dress at work. A short skirt with a tight shirt will definitely get you compliments. But there's a downside to it as well.

People think that women who dress provocatively get promoted easily. This is not the truth at all. The truth is that if you dress provocatively, your co-workers assume that you do not take your work and responsibilities seriously. Due to this general perception about "sexy" women, it becomes hard to get promoted. A sexy woman is generally seen as callous and incompetent.

However, the clothes that you wear are a reflection of your personality. If you like to dress provocatively, then so be it.  No matter how you dress, you deserve to be respected by everyone. Your clothes cannot be an excuse for sexual harassment or discrimination. Having said that, it is important to say that your clothes should actually reflect the ideology and image of your organisation. If you work in a BPO where it is considered ok to be dressed in jeans, you can dress as casually as you like. But if you work with a law firm where you need to project a serious image, you should dress in clothes that show that you mean business.

While dressing for work, you should also consider the feelings of your colleagues. Don't wear clothes that make your colleagues uncomfortable. If you have older people working with you, even the slightest "sexy" tag might disturb the environment. Similarly, if you feel that your clothes are attracting too much attention, you might find yourself being blamed for the inefficiencies of your colleagues.

How To Dress

Your clothes should be smart and attractive, without being too tight, too short, or revealing. Trousers with formal shirts are a great choice for work clothes. If dressing casual, you can team jeans with formal shirts, kurtis or tees. Skirts should be chosen carefully as these seem to attract a lot of attention. Accessories should also be used to enhance your "pretty" quotient. In short, "Look good, but in a decent way."
